While I was raised only two and a half hours from Birmingham, Alabama, I was not familiar with the city and had never visited Birmingham until I enrolled in law school here.

I learned quickly what so many others I meet in our office at closings have learned as well – Birmingham is the best place to live and raise a family! During my first year of law school, I decided that I was not going anywhere upon graduation (geographically that is, not professionally).

In 1994, I graduated from law school and went to work for a mid-sized law firm here in Birmingham with the nicest group of people one could work with (and yes, they were lawyers!). I stayed with a law firm for eight enjoyable years and the relationships made there remain some of my closest today.

I actually worked as a trial attorney during this time and enjoyed much of what was involved. However, the desire to work in a non-adversarial area of the law, and be my own boss, led to leaving my law firm and continuing an existing real estate closing practice that a close friend and law school classmate had started. I started to work here on January 14, 2002 and have been here since. My instincts proved correct as I have enjoyed the job even more than I thought I would and find great satisfaction from working closely with so many nice people in our real estate community. I also find it rewarding to work in an office where so many of us enjoy what we do and coming to work every day. And, the litigation experience from those first eight years of practice and the people met during that time have proved so beneficial to what I do now.

I met Ashley Herring, a Mobile, Alabama native, in 1996 here in Birmingham and we married in 1997. Ashley has worked in the hotel and hospitality industry for over 25 years now. She and I have three wonderful children who get along well and provide us with much of our entertainment and social life. We live in Homewood where our two boys attend Homewood High and where our daughter Caroline graduated in 2018. We also have a two-year old Australian Shepherd (Annie) and a six-year old tabby cat (Kitty).

Lauren went to law school knowing she wanted to work in the area of real estate law. While in law school, Lauren worked for a local title company who wisely hired her full time upon her graduation. Lauren developed an excellent reputation there and was then asked to join another title company to start a closing practice from scratch. Organized, efficient and hard-working, Lauren put all of the pieces together to get that closing business not only up and running but thriving. After a few years, she and Dave combined their practices in 2011. Lauren has been an essential part of the office ever since and very popular among the real estate agents and lenders with whom we work. She is both a lot of fun and competitive in the very best way. She is currently working in the title insurance side of the business but still helps out on the closing side as needed. She maintains a great balance while raising three beautiful daughters with her husband Trey (also an attorney) in Mountain Brook. She loves to travel and throw parties for her daughters.

Christy has an extensive experience on the lending and legal side of the closing business. Christy could handle well any task in the closing process but she mainly works in the area of preparation of the closing statements (CDs or HUD 1s) and disbursement of funds from closings between “pre-closing” and “post-closing.” Christy does an outstanding job at her busy desk and manages to keep all of the plates spinning while remaining calm and always keeping a positive attitude. Christy is truly invested in her job and goes above and beyond to make sure that our clients’ expectations are met. Christy and her husband Rodney live in Oneonta where they have raised four children with only the youngest still at home. She is also an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves.
